| Forests |
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Evergreen Forest Year-round this forest is green, as its name suggests, because it is full of pines and firs. However, during winter the trees become covered in a blanket of snow. There are a few grassy clearings, though. The land is far from flat and rises into high hills at points. Streams and rocks can be found in some of the ravines and there is said to be a huge, pointed glacial erratic jutting out of the forest floor in the forst's center. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Black Woods A recent forest fire swept through these woods and burned the surviving trees into a seemingly permanent blackness. No needles decorate the pines and firs, and even most of their branches are missing. The ground is barren and striped of any vegetation. A few animals may visit the Black Woods from time to time, but it is rare. It has an eerie aura to it and the faint mountains that are visible between the trees add to the effect. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Labyrinth Forest This forest has been fairly dubbed the Labyrinth Forest. It is twice as large as the Evergreen Forest and they have coniferous trees in common with each other. Pines and firs grow within close proximity and let almost no light shine on the needle covered ground below it. Creatures who stray into this land often live there for the rest of their lives. There are very few trails, but many long winding streams and huge erratics adorn what little space of the forest floor that there is. The few trails that are there are very confusing and twisting, making it easy for animals to become lost. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
| Mountains |
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Foothills Before the subalpine are the foothills. Some are taller and wider than others and some are small and rounded, but whatever way they might be, these foothills are quite hard to travel over. There are a few forests that run up and down these foothills, but the majority of the space is occupied as grass with a few pines and firs. The hills just make the journey over the mountains even more difficult. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Subalpine The subalpine is the area below the tree line and consists of the mountain’s lower slopes. Many mountain lions, big-horn sheep, wolves, and other creatures thrive here. Quite a few forests decorate them, one of them being the Labyrinth Forest. The subalpine is one of the more favorable of the territories that make up the Northern Light Region. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Stone Pass Hidden somewhere in the subalpine is a long, winding pass that takes creatures directly through the mountains. It leads to the opposite side of the mountains, where the coastal areas and towns are. Stone Pass is rugged and very rocky so it is hard to travel on. There also seems to be a lack of water on the pass, making it all the more difficult for animals to pass through. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Mountain Slopes Rough, rugged stone carves the mountain’s higher slopes from millions of years of erosion. Few creatures can manage surviving in such a place, but some can prevail. Those such animals are mostly mountain lions, big-horn sheep, eagles, and mountain goats. There are occasional streams from the melting snow at the mountain's peak during the summer, but it is very harsh and dangerous. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Pointed Cave Concealed somewhere half-way between the mountain slopes and subalpine is the entrance to a cave. The cave was named Pointed Cave because of its long stalactites and stalagmites that jut downward from the ceiling. It is very large and has many chambers making the cave up, but few creatures can survive for very long here. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
| Rivers and Lakes |
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Columbia River A long, narrow river cuts through quite a few of the areas of the Northern Light Region. It provides fresh water and an abundance of fish for the locals. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Emerald Lake Between Evergreen and Labyrinth Forest is a large lake called Emerald Lake. This lake earned its name by its strangely green-blue waters. Many different species of fish reside in the lake. The lakefront is surrounded by a few mossy clearings and rocks, but the majority is made up of tall pines and firs from the forests around it. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Lake Fog In the ravines of some of the mountains slopes is a great lake that fills them. It is named Lake Fog because of the mist it produces almost constantly and provides fresh water and sometimes even fish for the local inhabitants. It is a valuable resource for any mountain dwelling animal. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
| Flatlands |
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | The Great Plains There are a few grasslands covering parts of the Northern Light Region and are home to quite a few species of animals. Winds roll over the long, untamed grass that feeds many large game animals. Wolves also roam this land in search of prey. There may be a few small, minor hills from time to time, boulders, and streams, but for the most part it is a plain of green grass. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | The Icy Tundra To the farthest north of the Northern Light Region is a large tundra. It is icy almost year-round, except during the hottest days of summer. When the heat of the summer months does roll around, there are shrubby grasses and many bushes covering the ground along with rocks and stone. Not many animals live in the unforgiving land. There are no trees on this flat, barren tundra, but a few bushes and rocks are common. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
| Coastal Areas |
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | The Beaches The Northern Light Region is quite close to the ocean. White, sandy beaches line the land with tall, rough cliffs backing them up. Most creatures often visit here for the beautiful sunsets, although it rare because of the rugged passage through the mountains. Many sea birds nest on the cliff faces and are an easy target for predators passing by if the birds land on the beaches. No animal would ever dare going into the ocean waters because it is bone-chillingly cold and could cause death if something stayed in for too long. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | The Sand Dunes A little ways away from the beaches are tall sand dunes. They are covered in sea grass, although few animals come here. The sand dunes do provide a temporary shelter, though. They come in a vareity of different sizes on these beaches. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
![[ ]](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn122/tmcwolf/dotest.jpg) | Old Steam Town At the very outskirts of the Northern Light Region is an old town by the ocean. It houses a handful of humans, but most of those humans are hunters and the object of fear for many animals. They have strange, small, creatures that resemble wolves with them, but most predators see them as a thing of prey. Very few creatures of the wild ever stray to close to this town. The town itself is very old and in need of repair in many locations. Moderator: Acerbus | 0 | 0
